jlatex209-base software package provides basic NTT JLaTeX 2.09 macro files, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install jlatex209-base
jlatex209-base is installed in your system.
Make ensure the jlatex209-base package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep jlatex209-base *
You will get with jlatex209-base package name, version, architecture and description in a table
